The Role

We are seeking an experienced (Senior) Technical Director to join our client’s technical department. As part of a two-person technical team reporting directly to the CTO, you will oversee the technical aspects of aircraft and engine acquisitions, leasing, transitions, and disposals. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned technical professional with deep knowledge of mid-to end-of-life commercial aircraft and engines.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct technical assessments and due diligence for aircraft and engine acquisitions, including physical inspections, records reviews, and maintenance history analysis.
  • Provide technical input on asset valuation and strategic acquisition decisions.
  • Manage the process of delivery and redelivery of the asset, appointing the right people to assist in this process.
  • Negotiation and management of lease transactions from a technical viewpoint, as well as return conditions and maintenance reserves
  • Manage relationships with operators, owners, financial institutions and regulatory authorities to ensure customers are represented on significant issues impacting regulatory compliance, cost of maintenance, for the aircraft.

The Person

The successful candidate will be a hands-on technical professional, with a successful track record and demonstrable experience in managing the delivery and redelivery process of an asset.

Desired Qualifications & Experience

  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in commercial aviation technical management, with experience in asset management, leasing, MRO, or airline engineering.
  • Proven expertise with mid to end-of-life aircraft and engines, including technical due diligence, maintenance planning, and lease transitions.
  • Strong background in managing engine shop visits, teardown, part-out strategies, and end-of-life asset optimization.
  • In-depth understanding of commercial aircraft and engine types commonly traded in the mid-life market.
  • Solid grasp of airworthiness regulations (FAA, EASA, etc.) and industry best practices.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Relevant industry certifications are a plus.
